USA Cheer

The USA Cheer Cheerleading Safety and Risk Management Course is the full course required for most state activities and athletics associations, as well as meeting college requirements for insurance coverage. The course is also beneficial for all star programs and for dance programs that involve lifts.  It is based on USA Cheer’s Cheerleading Safety Manual (4th edition).

This course covers the topics of safety awareness, legal responsibilities, medical responsibilities, environmental safety factors, safety equipment, spotting, performer readiness, skill progressions, and levels of participation.

This course is ideal for coaches and administrators seeking to increase their knowledge of the important safety factors in cheerleading and cheer-related activities and methods to minimize risk. 

This is Part 1 of the USA Cheer Cheerleading Safety and Risk Management Course, formerly known as the AACCA Cheerleading Safety Course. This course is designed to inform coaches and administrators of their responsibilities and introduce important concepts in safety and risk management.

This section covers the following chapters of the USA Cheer Cheerleading Safety Manual, followed by exam questions from these chapters:

• A Philosophy of Safety Awareness
• Understanding & Assessing Legal Liability in Cheerleading
• Medical Responsibilities in Cheerleading

This is Part 1 of 3 parts needed in order to complete the Cheerleading Safety and Risk Management Course.

Anticipated time to complete this section of the course is 1 – 2 hours.
